Ps3 questions.?
May be...
alright.. i have a 40gb ps3 and it's hooked up to my hdtv via hdmi and all that stuff.. it's all set up right and the cable isn't loose or anything but usually every couple of minutes, the screen shifts to the left a good 4 inches probably so i can't see part of the game and the right side is just a black bar since the screen shifted.. it usually lasts about 5 seconds or so.. i have been just dealing with it but its pretty annoying.. any suggestions on what to do?
Another question... why when i play call of duty 4 does it only play the game in 720p?... my tv supports 1080i and lower and my ps3 has it set up the same (that it supports 1080i and lower)... the xmb when i turn on the ps3 is at 1080i but when i put in call of duty which supports 720p, 1080i, and 1080p, it only plays it at 720p. Any way to make it play at 1080i?COD4 plays natively at 720p. You can make it play in higher resolution (turn off everything except your highest resolution when setting the display settings), but the PS3 would just be upconverting so there isn't really a point. Also, 720p is better than 1080i for gaming. 1080i is good for still pictures and movies but it doesn't perform as well with gaming. Fast movements like looking around in an fps can cause blurring in 1080i. Ultimately that decision is up to you though, you're TV may not make it as noticeable as mine does.
As for the screen twitching, try setting all the display settings (Settings>Display settings) back to normal. For example the "RBG Full Range (HDMI)" setting is set to limited on my PS3. If I turn that setting on I notice a similar symptom, the screen moves left to right (although its more like a couple of centimeters rather than 5 inches, and pretty quickly). Turn "super white" and "cross color reduction filter" off as well. These settings only work well on certain TVs.
If that doesn't fix the problem, or you never touched any of these settings then I'd have to guess it's the HDMI cable itself. If you have another cable try that, otherwise try returning the one you have and picking up a slightly better one.
Newegg.com has pretty good prices on cables (although you'd probably have to pay shipping as well). TigerDirect.com probably has good prices as well, otherwise see if you can find cheap cables at your local electronics store (they usually charge more though).Well my hdtv via hdmi cable with the PS3 goes up to 1080i but it all depends on the game. Some games will go up to 1080i resloution but some won't and as i play fifa 08 alot the resolution for that is 720p. So look on the back of the case amd it should say what resolution it goes up to or maybe the front. Pick as best answer please.reset the settings back to hdmi and select 1080i as reccomended playing
everything else should stop720p is the same as 1080i the i is the old thing the new thing is 1080p or with the letter p
