PS3 with HDMI Cable question?

May be...
  • I bought an HDMI calbe that says version 1.3b...will this work on the ps3? I heard that ps3 supports like 1.3a or something. Will it still work? im scared to try it lol so please help!! i have 100 percent money back guareentee so please helppp!!!
  • Yes, it will work... being 1.3b just means that it is capable of handling hdmi 1.3b output, as well as all the earlier versions. They are in that sense "backward compatible."

You also don't have to use a hdmi 1.3 cable with ps3. Unless you're using a high-end HDTV with features only hdmi 1.3 can fully make use of, it will make no difference at all. For most HDTV's a cheap $10 cable will work as well as any other.

As for gold-plated connectors, they are a gimmick to inflate the price. They have no effect on quality, especially for a digital cable like HDMI. HDMI cables are basically lossless, regardless of the connector type, there is no noticeable difference. Even for an analog cable, you would have to make the entire cable out of gold to see any difference.

Just treat your hdmi cable reasonably well so it won't corrode, and it will work perfectly.
  • It will work. But I have never seen a 1.3b cable. Best to buy a 1.3a gold plated cable for best result.
