What is the best thing to do if my 60GB harddrive for PS3 will not format and its inside 1 year warranty?

May be...
  • Take it back to the store.

Under the relavant consumer acts (mostly 1987) the customer (presumably yourself) has a contract with the store that physical purchases must meet with expectations as agreed at the time of sale.

As the purchase contained a 1 year warrentee this formed your expectation, and it is up to the store to fix the issue. You should NOT pay any fees for postage or handling and should NOT be without the use of the item for any length of time.

Research the law a little more and cause a fuss until you get a new one...

  • Take it back to the shop that you brought it from and demand a refund or exchange. They may try and make you send it back to Sony, but you don't have to accept that. It is their responsibility as they sold it to you.
  • send it back under the conditions of the warranty
  • Just take it back. If it wont format its faulty.
  • you should get a free playstation 3 from this site instead of buying retail
  • Break it dumbass and take it back
