Why do ppl say the Xbox is the future gaming console?

May be...
  • to me the xbox 360 is just the same as the old one, just with better graphics/specs and more games. theres really no added features to the console itself or controller.

    also, i hate when ppl say xbox is better, just cause it sells more than the ps3. just say holden and bmw were only the 2 car brands out there. more ppl will buy holden's becauses its cheap, when they know the bmw is the better car, which is this case, the ps3 is the better console but xbox sells more because its cheap, if anyone knows what im talking about...

    anyway... give me your opinion on which is the future gaming console and why.......................
  • The Wii should not even be brought into this argument.

    IT SUCKS.

    PS2 and Xbox1 are better than the Wii. Its just a cute little gimmick that girls will buy because it looks trendy like an ipod. Ther are barely any good games for it and they all look like crap.

    The thing can't even play DVDs.

    Can someone explain to me why a system with crappier graphics than a PS2 and no extra features is better than a PS3 or Xbox 360s.

    I know you bought a piece of crap Wii bust don't come around saying its better than 360 or PS3 because it makes people laugh and fell sorry for you.

    Oh and as for you question, good comparison.

    PS3=BMW

    360=Toyota

    PS3 is the future of gaming for these reasons:

    -Still the most, best, and widest variety of exclusives.

    -Next Generation Media BUILT IN

    -Has the the built in hardware to last for 8-10 years.

    -Has a fan base of 125 million PS2's...when those owners go Next Gen they will likely go PS3 therefor PS3 has the potential to sell more than Wii and 360 combined just as PS2 sold more than Xbox and Gamecube Combined and mulitplied by two!!!!!!!!!111

    -Sony has been the most dominant leader in Home gaming consoles since PSone debuted.

    360 is a great system, PS3 is just better. More built in a a better, wider variety of great games.
  • i do not own a xbox....but the only thing i see in the future for it...is a lot of people trashing it out.......they will realize that they might as well shred their dollar bills or at least throw them down the drain......
  • its ps3 isnt, its more powerful.

    already sonys caught up

    they shown us stuff like home and littleBIG planet

    give it 1 more year and sony will be in front
  • I'm not seeing any good answers really...defitnetly not glenns answer.

    Look. For one, i've never really heard anyone say the 360 is the future of gaming haha, it's only future is RROD( red ring of death). 2 Look at the company who makes it, Microsoft. You're right the 360 is just an updated xbox. Microsoft is money driven like a mofo...Stopped making Xbox games, why? To MAKE you buy a 360, then they get all kinds of sweet games for the 360, theyre motto (for now): Quantity not quality, for the most part. You're exactly right on the whole holden and bmw spectacle. HOWEVER, if you really looked at the prices recently, Last time i checked the 360 was $349 for the 20GB, may be mistaken. $349?! The 40GB is $399, 50 bucks more. So for 50 bucks more you get free online, blu ray dvd player, etc you guys know...So to me the price doesn't really matter for right now. I'd say PS3 is the future of gaming. Now on the wii....the wii is awesome i own one...it's still nintendo "notice the word "ten" in there" it's for kids man, mainly....so that's more innovative at this point, however 360 and ps3 are both making wireless controllers, so is nintendo in trouble? I don't know, probably not....but ps3=future of gaming
  • I've played the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii, and I can say without a doubt the Wii is the future of gaming. Gaming will go interactive and Wii has truly taken a huge step in that direction. While the graphics are not as good as the 360 or PS3 the fundamentals are light years ahead. Nintendo is using the Wii to start the revolution and I fully expect the next version of the Wii to have the interactiveness of the Wii and the graphics/feature of the other two.

    The PS3 is just a bloated 360. I'm not saying that the 360 or PS3 are not good but I would bet that 10 years from now gaming looks much more like the Wii than the other two!

    Edit: So much hate on the Wii. LOL!
  • No one really is thinking here....The most technologically advanced system is clearly the PS3, the innovative is clearly the wii...and the best system to own (at least currently) is Xbox360. The reason is CONTENT....at this point the best games are for the xbox 360...Now the ps3 is beggining to pick up very good games...the only 2 things hurting them are the console price and the fact that MOST (not all fanboys) of their best games are multiplatform so it can't force an xbox360 user to buy the new system because the original content just isn't there...for now....that the reason the original xbox wasn't as good as ps3....it was much better technology but the content just wasn't there....The real issue is that with the incredibly increasing diversity and compatibility of PC gaming the many analysts think this may be the "golden age" of console gaming...that in in the future most games will be developed for gaming friends small formfactor PCs... However to answer your question the reason people say that the xbox is the future of gaming is that (for the time being) the best future games are all on the xbox360 (many of them exclusively...so...that's my two cents. Oh but ps3 will continue to grow faster now that Bluray is the chosen format for future HD movie content....And the wii will still be fun to play even though more family oriented.
  • They don't say the xbox is the console of the future. At least nobody who isn't a fanboy says so.

    Most serious people simply point to the xbox being competitive NOW, not in the future, by mentioning things like total consoles sold, and number of games now available. There are a lot, and I'm sure xbox owners have fun with the games...

    but as for the future, the xbox's games have already gotten about as good as they can get, there isn't much extra performance to be got from the xbox hardware. The ps3 on the other hand hasn't even gotten halfway to what it can do. Games have just started using the whole Cell engine the way it was designed to be used, and as far as I know none of them use streaming which, in the future, will make games even faster. Even disregarding ps3's more efficient design, it is a more powerful machine, with twice the floating point capacity and more memory bandwidth than an xbox. Add to that the Cell architecture's potential for development improvements, and the extremely high speed (3.2gHz) of the ps3's RAM, and the ps3 is clearly the one with more potential.

    Xbox has a couple of things going for it though, one of them the user's devkit, can't remember what it's called, I think it's related to the Torque engine by Garage games, which users can make their own games with and sell to other users. That's not gonna result in top-quality games though, it's just a fun diversion.

    PS3's other claims to the future are its first-rate, self-updating blu-ray player, still the best one there is; the motion sensors in the controller which devs have so far had no clue how to use; and free online, including Home assuming it's ever actually released, which I'm beginning to wonder.

    If I wanted to make xbox games its devkit might be interesting, but I don't have the time to make serious games of higher quality than can run on a simple single-core pc. Or sellable games for that matter. Actually I haven't made even a simple game in years though I've made some levels and minor mods

    >edit< yes the Wii is not even a next-generation console, it is part of the last generation. It is no more powerful than an xbox1, and can't output better than 480p video. Its only attraction is its controller, which while innovative is not very useful for serious games like shooters.

    Wii is competing against the ps2 right now, not ps3 or xbox. The kind of people who use ps3's or xbox's would not even consider a frivolous little toy like the wii. I think the existence of the wii is one reason Sony still sells the ps2, to limit its ability to attract casual people whose thumbs are not skilled at the use of two sticks.
