60gb PS3? Any PS3 owner would know most of these?

May be...
  • I am looking in buying a 60 GB PS3 online. Mainly because I want to play PS2 games. I Just have a few questions.

    1. The internet is free, but that brigs up some questions. Can it get wifi viva router (e.g. Linsys). If not what exactly is Ethernet?

    2. On the 60gb with emotion engine, Will all PS2 games work. If not, which ones wont or just give me a list.

    3. Does it come with a HDMI cable?

    4. Do regular DVDs work?

    Finally (for now at least)

    5. Will PS2 controllers (eg Guitar hero Guitar) work, or do they have a adapter. If so how much is the adapter? And what about memory Cards?

Just answer as many as you know. 10 Points for best answer!
  • YOU'RE IN LUCK. I am a top contributor in this section which means i actually know what I am talking about =D...

    1) Your ps3 will basically be like a new laptop. You set it up like a laptop. You go the the settings category and scroll down to network, and you would set it up like any laptop or computer. Yes it has built in wi-fi unlike the 360 where you would have to buy a 100 dollar add on. Ethernet is for the people who do not have wi-fi. You basically just take the cord that you have in your router and plug it in your ps3. The 60gb modle came with this cord. The 40gb does not, but the 80gbs have them also.

    2. The 60gb plays 99% of ps2 games. It plays all the main ones. There was this website, but i forgot what it was =S. Most of the important games work like the ones that people actually know.

    3. No none of the ps3 comes with an HDMI cable, but who cares you can just go buy one for 10 bucks. Price does not matter on an HDMI cable do not be fooled into buying a 100 dollar one when you can get perfectlly good ones for 10 buks.

    4. Yes the ps3 plays normal DVDs as well as blu-rays. You just pop it in and just watch it. Blu-ray is just a new technology but pretty soon a lot of movies will be on only blu-ray so keep that in mind.

    5. Yea i had that same question when i was going to get my ps3 at launch. I was disappointed in not finding any ports for the ps2. Luckily in December of 06 they released the adapters. They have usb to ps2 outputs for your guitar hero, ddr and ps2 controllers they work.

NOTE: for guitar hero with the adapter you do not have hammer ons, pull offs, or start power tilt.

They also have memory card to usb adapters they are also 15 bucks.

HOPE I HELPED. if you have any questions at all email me at

  • It depends on witch internet.
  • 1.first of all you cant get 60gb anymore its only 40 & 80

and yes the wifi comes built in threw the playstation if you use a router you have to go to sttings and go to network and change it too wireless

ethernet is going to be either blue or green its the main internet source you have to have it plugged into the router

    2. i dont believe ps2 games work on the 60gb i know it does on the 80 because thats what i have

    3. no it doesnt come with a HDMI cable but you can buy one made by pelicon anywhere from 15 to 25 dollars

    4. yes regular dvds work blue ray also work

    5. yes the controller will work but with an adaptor there about 10

and im not too sure with a external memory card because it already has a bulit in one.
