I dropped my PS2 slightly, nothing big, and now it won't read discs?

May be...
  • any ideas?...or anything i can do free...or cheap, to fix it? not worth spending 50$ on anymore
  • If you have a friend who knows a little about mechanics, you can ask him. But the best thing to do would be to go to a shop and ask if its broken and (if it is) how to fix it yourself using the tools in a tool box.
  • You MAY be able to send it in to Sony to request service on it if:

    - The bar code on the back of the PlayStation is still there.

    - You have not voided your warranty (by damaging any parts of the PlayStation 2, not taking your system in for service while the warranty wasn't expired)

    - If ther was an original warranty on the system that hasn't expired yet, you may be eligible to send it in for free service.

    - OR, if you don't have a warranty, and the bar code is not present there is nothing you can do. You either need to bar code to send it in for a service for a fee, or a warranty for free service, got to be one of the two.
  • Any drop (regardless of distance) in sophisticated electronics, can be very damaging, as seems to be the case here. You may have done many things, misaligned laser, broke a circuit board, unhooked the drive belt for the disk tray, etc etc. Best bet, take it somewhere to get an estimate...
  • i did that to mine by accident nd omg i was so pissd, i just ewnt out nd bought a used one 4 like $30 or so. theyr pritty cheap now
  • try cleaning the lens with a special cd lens cleaner or with a simple q tip with alcohol thats how i fixed mine
  • You broke it
  • try not to drop it next time and make sure u go see a pro or some1 that has another psp
