PS3 On A Non HD tv?

May be...
  • I have an oldish TV (Non HD i think they're called SD tv's:) and I want to know; does the PS3 have standard AV cords?

I also have a LCD pc monitor with DVI input but devnut says that I'd need an HDMI cable to play on this and that they're pretty expensive, if he's right, how much?, and please dont tell me to buy over the internet because im 13 and dont have a credit card.

    Thanks.
  • Yes, the PS3 comes with standard cables for older TV sets. I purchased a HDMI cable from the local computer shop for $8 and it works just as well as one that i purchased earlier for $50. I have heard of HDMI cables priced over $100!, there is no difference in quality. Don't pay more than $20. Using the HDMI cable will give a much better quality picture than the AV cables. The best TV to use would be a LCD HD TV 1080i.
  • Yes, it certainly can.

Although when you set it up, you may need to adjust the resolution a little bit, as well as the Internet Browser's resolution. I know this because I also have a 20" Standard Definition TV.
  • I used a 17 year old tv on my friend's PS3 and it worked like a charm.... The quality is just the same as using a HDTV except it is smaller using the old TV... the TV I used was a Panasonic brand TV
  • You are able to use the PS3 on an SDTV just like the PS1 and PS2. Heck, I am answering this question using my PS3 on my SDTV!
  • if it has the 3 or 2 holes for video and sound yea it would work
