Ps3 save and game files?

May be...
  • im still pretty new to ps3 and have one question. the only game i have is mgs4 (great game btw) and it has a huge 4.4 gb game file and a pretty small save file - do u have a huge game file for every game or is it just for a few big games? cause if i hav 4 gb files for every game i can only get lik 5 since i hav a 40gb version and it only had 30 gb left after updates and stuff and a few demos
  • Not all games games have an install like this and some games have an optional install where you can choose whether you want to install it or not. It usually speeds up load times.

Don't worry if you have to delete the game file to play a new game that installs data on the hard drive as it doesn't delete any of your save files and can be easily reloaded if you decide to play that game again.

If you want to avoid this problem all together. You could just replace the hard-drive in the PS3 with a bigger size: ranging up to about 250GB I think (good guide on how to do that here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkM9wiZeP...
  • You are probably gonna be able to fit 7-8 big games with the 40gb playstation 3. I recommend buying a new hard drive like I did. Of course there is an option to delete the installed game after you finish playing it and won't want to play it again.

Yeah it's not all that great but will save you $100+ for a new hard drive.
  • No most games are less then a gig. Any way the save file is the important one. The game file can be removed and reinstalled with no issues or effects on your game save files.
