Requirements from Playstation 3?

May be...
  • Hi i am interested in purchasing a PS3 and i wanted to know what model to get and what to get with it.

I would like it to play my PS2 games, connect online via my IEEE 802.11g (Wireless) router and connect to my HD television so that it displays in HD. What model and or accesories/cables do i need?
  • Don't get the 40GB model (doesn't play PS2 games) or the 20GB model (doesn't have Wireless). Any other model is fine.

If you want HD connection you'll need a HDMI cable. Any HDMI cable will do, it makes no difference - don't be suckered into buying an expensive one from Monster or a similar company.

Other than that, you're all set.
  • What you can do is buy the 80GB version of the PS3. but the thing is that it comes with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. If your not a fan of the series, then there is no point.

Anyway, the 80GB version comes with:

-- Backwards compatibility so you can play 85% of the PS2 games out there. The other 15% of the games will not work but don't worry about those as those games are either really old or no one has read about it.

    -- 4 USB ports

-- A Flash Card Reader so you can add pictures taken by digital camera and add the memory card directly to your PS3 so you can upload them.

That is all the features this model has. For the accessories, the only thing you may need, if not already have, a HDMI cable for your HD viewing pleasures. The PS3 has built-in Wi-Fi connections so you don't need an adapter to pick up the wireless internet signals.

Well, if you didn't want a 80GB version of the PS3, the only other choice is the 40Gb version.

    The 40GB version comes with:

-- No backwards compatibility for PS2 games. It only plays PS1 games and PS3 games or course.

    -- 2 USB ports

    -- No Flash Card Reader

So if I were you, I could try buying the 80GB version. If you don't want the MGS4 bundle, trying finding the 80GB version without the bundle online like Ebay or something.
  • If you want to play PS2 games on the PS3, you'll need to get either the 20, 60, or 80 gb version. The 40 gb version will not play PS2 game disks.

For Wi-Fi connection, you need to get either the 40, 60, or 80 gb version. The 20 gb version doesn't have Wi-Fi built in.

All versions can be played on a HD TV, provided that you get the component or HDMI cable. Depending on what type of TV you have (720p/1080i or 1080p), you probably want to get HDMI if you have a 1080p TV. If you have a 720p/1080i, you can go component or HDMI. HDMI is better, but the difference that you see is practically negligible.
  • get to 80 gig mgs4 bundle and just a hdmi cable dont need any wireless adapter it already has one built in if you go to best buy dont listen to then on what cables and such to buy they will try to sell you the expensive stuff i got a cheaper hdmi cable that works just as good as a 100 dollar one
  • Get the new 80GB MGS4 PS3 bundle

It plays 99% of PS2 games.

    Built in Wi-Fi.

    Just buy an HDMI cable.

    Games to get

    MGS4

    Haze

    COD4

    Rainbow Six Vegas 2

    GTA4

    Warhawk

    Enjoy!
  • You will need an 80gb ps3. That plays ps2 games. Also, an HDMI cable to connect for your ps3 and tv. Thats pretty much it, the wireless you can set up
