How to Install Linux on PS3?

Hey ussually im good at this stuff but this is way to confusing. So yeah please give me good details and or links.



Please don't link me to tutorials because those are confusing.



Please give me a personal tutorial in dumb people language.



Good links and tut will get 10 points.

1. Firstly you have to plug in a USB drive or thumb drive and do a backup from the setting in there PS3 to backup your game saves etc. the actual PS3 system files are not on the main HD, so these do not get backed up.

2. What i did was partitioned my HD first within the PS3 settings. It only allows a 10-90 ratio, you cannot partition 50-50. this sucks but it still works fine.

3. There is a link where you download online Yellow Dog Linux, full version for PS3. I will find you the link. You basically download this and burn to a CD.

4. You go into the PS3 settings and state install another OS. And then run the YDL from the CD. And go through the install.



Give me a few mins and i will check my laptop for the links i used.

The file is over 200mb so it may take a few hours depending on your network speed. I will find the othelinks for doing the backup and the partitioning.

I don't think you can. If you we're willing to, you could buy a monitor plug for it and hard wire it, but I don't recommend it. If you want to replace the hard drive memory, plug it into a two way USB cord from a Mac to it. and maybe you can use the Disk Utility to mess with the HD.
