What's the point in the internal memory card function on a ps3?

May be...
  • If the thing can't even play ps2 games (80 gig PAL) then what is the point in having an internal virtual memory card unit in the console? Is it just to tease us non-ps2-capable-console players or is there any links to a proper emulation method in the future?
  • It would add significanlty more work and open up more compatibility issues if they were to make a seperate version of firmware just to remove that feature, so they leave it in even on systems that can't really make use of it.
  • It's still needed if you download old classic games from PSN or if you play PS1 games (PS1 games are supported by all PS3 versions).
  • Donate your PS3 to McDonalds, they need it more than you do.
