Where are Ps3 HDD sold?

May be...
  • Can any HDD work on the ps3 or is it a certain type. Please send a link to the website.
  • There isn't any specific brand of HDDs that you need to buy, but some brands are better than others, Western Digital makes pretty good hard drives for good prices, Seagate also makes good ones ( the one that comes with the PS3 is Seagate brand)

The requirements are that the HDD has to be 2.5" (laptop size) SATA, at 5400rpm or 7200rpm ( 5400rpm is recommended)

    Here's a good one I found: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000S6A...

The reviews seem really positive about it, and they've stated that they bought it for their PS3
  • just go to best buy Report Abuse
  • It can be any 2.5" SATA hard drive. You can get them in 5400rpm or 7200rpm. The 7200rpm is usually more expensive and generates more heat. I'd reccomend getting this one: http://oyendigital.com/hard-drives/store...

After you reformat it in your ps3 you will actually have around 260gb left.
  • PS3 uses the same 2.5 inch Sata drives that Laptops use. By default anyplace that sales laptops HDDs also sales PS3 HDDs.

Bestbuy and Circut City both have them.

As for online newegg is where I get most of my computer stuff.

  • It must be a sata 2.5 and you should also be aware it has to have a 9.5mm height. You can buy one at most electronics stores and online.

i use ncix. Heres a link that may help with installation as well
  • You can use any 2.5 inch SATA laptop that runs at 5400 rpm. You can get them at Best Buy, Newegg, Circuit City, etc.
