My PS3 isn't showing up on the TV!?

May be...
  • I hooked up my PS3 to my parents' widescreen plasma TV with their HDMI cable. Now it won't work without the HDMI cable. When I tried to hook it back up in my room with my little basic TV using the red, white, and yellow cable (whatever that's called) it wont show up anymore. It turns on and works fine, but no sound or picture is coming out of the TV. How can I get it to work again?
  • I had the same problem. What you have to do is go to display settings and set it to work off of AV cables, and then when the screen goes blank put the av cables into your ps3 and the tv. Then turn it to the correct input. But make sure that you do it fast because it only gives you thirty seconds from the time the screen goes blank. The picture should come up with a countdown still going. Just click save changes and you should be all good. Oh and make sure you go straight to change audio settings as well, it should come up as soon as you click save changes. Now, I can say good luck.
  • when its plugged into the hd tv its set to send the signal through the hdmi cable and not the coulourful ones. you need tho change the display settings while plugged into the hd tv. the screen will go blank and just turn off the console. then lug it in with the couloured cables and it should work fine. otherwise you can google the question and there is a trick to set the ps3 back to ots basic display setting by holding down the power button for a few seconds
  • the133t pretty much answered the question. plug it into your red/white/yellow plugs (fyi: analog connections) and set the ps3 to be on stand by (when the power button is a solid red color) and hold it down while it powers up it gose into a typa diagnostic mode to where it checks your audio video settings and whats currently plugged in and will promt you to set the right resilution for your tv. • red/white/yellow cables are Composite or RCA cables.

To reset the display settings while the PS3 is in Standby just hold down the power button till it beeps. then the Display setting's will come up, just tell it you want to use the Composite cables.

do this again when you want to use HDMI on your parents TV.
  • When you switch back to the regular cables you need to hold down the power button for like 5 seconds the first time you start up the console. Basically until it beeps at you. That resets the display settings.
  • hold down the power buton until you hear a beep. that resets the output.
