How do u know a ps3 is backwards compatible? also can some 1 send a pic of how u know like a comparison pic?

May be...
  • All PS3's play ps1 games, Only the PS3's with 4 USB slots play ps2 games. Dont worry about it too much i got the backwards compatible PS3 and i realized i dont even play my ps2 games, no more, i spend all my time playing PS3 games.
  • According to Sony's knowledge center the only PS3's that had BC were the 20g model released in November of 2006 under model number CECHB01, the 60g model released in November of 2006 under model number CECHA01, and the 80g model released in November of 2007 under model number CECHE01. Any model that has since been released in 2008 does not have BC. There were models that were still being sold in 2008 that were originally released previously sometime in 2007, although those models are listed as no longer in production.

The model number can be found on the back of any PS3 along with the serial number.

Click the link below and it will tell you all you need to know.
  • Count the USB ports. Only PS3s with four USB ports can play PS2 games. Those with only two cannot.
