I was wondering bout the playstation 3 backwards compatibility?
May be...
i am just about to buy a playstation 3 next tuesday and i have alot of ps2 games i was wondering how good is the ps3s backwards compatibility and secondly is there even backwards compatibility? A mixed bag of answers we have here.... The 60GB and 20GB have almost complete backwards compatibility - around 97% of PS2 games will work. The original 80GB, and the one sold as the MGS4 Bundle have some backwards compatibility - about 80%. The newest 80GB and 160GB can not play PS2 games AT ALL. All PS3 will play PS1 games. You have to have an older model. Seeing as there is no such thing as "the 120 gig" model, that one will probably not work out so well. The latest 80 and 160 gig consoles have no PS2 backwards compatibility. Your best bet is buying a used one or one that was Metal gear bundle or older, still in box. yes there is backwards compatibility but you have to get the 80 gig or 160 gig to be backwards compatibility The only PS3's that have complete backwards compatibility are the 20 GB models and 60GB models.
