Playstation 3 - is it worth it?

May be...
  • I am selling my Wii to a friend, and my Xbox 360 to another friend. I have enough money for a PS3. Should I get it as my "center" system? I have a high-def T.V. The reason I got rid of the other ones is because I haven't played them in months, I have no games for my 360, and 1 game for my Wii. I feel like "starting fresh" with a new system, and have it be the center of my entertainment (aside from my computer). I think I'm going to get it, but I have some questions:

    1. Which bundle/PS3 do I get? 80gb? 160gb?

    2. Can I play imported Japanese PS3 games on my American PS3?

    3. What extra cables do I need to have the highest quality setup?
  • the 80gb comes with MGS4 a really good game and the 160gb comes with uncharted another good game so i guess its up to you to pick which game you think your going to like the most. my friends has a ps3 and he plays some imported japanese games so i think you can. yes, your going to need an HDMI cable to have the highest quality and a fiber optic cable if you have a surround sound system
  • some would argue but the new versions of the PS3 and 360 are pretty similar games wise. (Unless you are bias toward Halo or Metal Gear) they share many multiplat games. On the plus side, since your looking to enhance your setup, the PS3 does come with a Blu-ray player for hi-def movies.

    1. depends on what you plan to use it for (Games / movies only = 80gb) (Games / movies / pics / music / video / ect... = 160 gb)

2.I have read that PS3 game are not region specific so yes you can play imported games on a US PS3.

    3. HDMI cable is your best option for cables.

    Hope this helps!
  • simple answer if you have the money get it.

    any ps3/bundle will do.

ps3 games should work on ps3

you will need a HD cable.
  • 1. Go with the 80GB the 160GB is rediculous i have no clue who could use up that much storage.

    2. You can there's some youtube video's on it but its pretty confusing and I don't think it's worth the time.

    3. Highest quality you need your HDMI cable

I would highly recommend the Ps3 as your "cener console" it is the best multi-media console out there. You can have music, movie and game trailers, games of couse, you can even download songs from project playlist and save them onto your hardrive. If you want to get really technical you can even put in a bigger hardrive and install linux. (I think that's useless) Also, it is probably the cheapest Blue-Ray player out there.
  • Don't matter what bundle you get as the ps3 is easily upgradeable with any laptop hard drive.

As for japenese games yes all PS3's are region free with games so any model will play any game from any country.

All you need is a hdmi cable which I think is included in some packages but if not they are only cheap now.

overall yes it is definetly worth it you can stream multimedia with tversity watch blu ray movies which look superb, also use the internet browser watch youtube videos or google websites as you can with a pc.

You can also buy play tv which you can access all freeview channels & pause & rewind live tv also record directly to the ps3 hard drive.
