On the PS3 controller it has 4 red spots to indicate the battery level?

May be...
  • when i shut ps3 down for the night i wake up and turn it on and the controller is set at 2 and never works playing games. I have to keep restoring my Ps3 defaults to get it to work any one have ideas?
  • If you have something plugged into the PS3 when you shut it down then it gets assigned slot number 1. Rock band instruments count for this. So your controller gets assigned number two when the machine starts up, cause something else is plugged in. Unplug that other thing when you turn the system on, then when you turn the controller on, it will have slot one.

Other than that, youll just have to keep assigning slot one to it manually.
  • Those 4 red lights determine what # controller you're using. Only # 1 will control the functions. Try your other controller. Thats my guess.
  • The red buttons indicate what player you are if your the first light your player one and it goes all the way to player 4
  • You need to go to the controller settings and assign it to Port 1...give that a try!
  • hold the PS button on controller and u will see controller settings... change it to player one and ur good to go

happens to me all the time
