Will there be a PS3 price drop by E3?

May be...

Ok i want a brand NEW sony ps3, and i am hoping to get one for 300 bucks at the most, but i am sorry, 400 bucks is still way too much and way outside of my means. there are rumors that a price drop is coming, even by top analysts and ps3's own game publishers who are pushing for it, but sony, in all their wisdom, keeps shooting this speculation down and insists that a price drop wont happen.



Anybody know what is going on with this?

Sony have been taking losses on the PS3 for a while. They can't afford to drop the price right now. Period. They just dropped the price of the PS2. They can recoup losses from the PS2 platform as its still popular in the world.



I seriously doubt they will announce a price drop at E3. E3 news/game releases is not gonna be enough to get PS3s off the shelves anyway. That's more likely to happen at Christmas where gift-giving is fluent. Besides, the PS3 is selling pretty well in most parts of the globe.



The PS3 is designed to be around for quite a while, so I think Sony is willing to wait for you to have enough cash for it.



You gotta understand that the PS3 is a premium console and all top quality products like this are gonna cost money since they are expensive to make. BMW won't drop the price of their cars because you can't afford it. You save up enough money, or you find a cheaper alternative. Know what I mean?

Well,if Sony doesn't drop the price soon,that would mean year 4 Xbox 360 domination.



I wish Sony would lower the price of the PS3 as well.



But in the end,Microsoft,Sony and Nintendo are ALL gonna be bankrupt when OnLive comes out in Christmas.

Sorry no price drop for the PS3 & hopefully in Dec. Just recently the PS2 had it's price drop to $100 now. The only thing that you could is "wait" or ask your parents to give you gift cards on your b-day or maybe pinch in.

It might or might not happen. Try waiting till Christmas, at that time there are huge discounts. I usually get loads of expensive things at that time for good deals.

I hope they do, but if not, I heard that they're gonna start bundling games with consoles during the holidays. So I guess u could get a lil more bang for ur buck(s).

By e3? no 99% no. it would be a total shock if they did.



The ps3 is the top of the line full of the most advanced processors available to the public the largest fastest super computer uses 12,000 Cell processors. if that doesn't say something then i don't know what will.



Look at it like this The ps3 is a top of the line Car and lets say a 360 is a middle class and the Wii is a family class low end class.



Gansta put it best i think saying that its like a bmw they arent gonna lower their price just because you cant afford it. people forget sony is a business and they need to make money too. if sony dropped their price too quickly and too low sony would go out of business the economy would take a dive in japan and would affect all of the gaming companies of america.



just save up and when you get one drive the BMW like the rest!



there might be one december but it wont be a large one maybe 25-50 dollars. they are going to drop their price that low until the hardware inside the ps3 is cheaper to produce and the production costs go down.
