Gamestop offer!!! is this a good deal?

May be...
  • PS2 to PS3 Upgrade Offer

Trade in a PS2 and 3 games to get $100 toward the purchase of a new 80gb PS3.

Expires: 5/31/2009. Offer not good on cash trades. Games with a trade value of less than $2.00 are excluded from offer. Trades must be in full working condition to receive full value. Hardware must have all necessary components for trade. Cannot be combined with any other offer. PS3 hardware subject to availability by location. Trade-ins subject to manager approval. See store associate for details. No dealers. Offer valid in the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam only.
  • sell the machine and games yourself and use that cash towards a ps3

    it's an awesome system
  • Bad deal because the 80GB PS3 out there now DOESN'T play PS2 games. So you will not be able to play PS2 games anymore. Besides the fact that they charge $100 for the PS2 alone. I realize you wouldn't get $100 for a PS2, so if you wanted to sell it to Gamestop that is a good deal. I'm not sure why you'd want to sell it to Gamestop though.
  • Just draw one of course only with the official crayola brand crayons
  • This deal is *not* worth it. Not at all.

The PS2 is worth about 100$ (in a new condition). If your PS2 works fine, good condition, etc., then the deal isn't worth it.

You're getting 100$ off. Big deal. The PS2 has over 1800 games. That's A LOT. Would you really give that up for 100$?

Besides, lots of games for the PS3 are sequels, and most of the time you gotta play the first ones in order to understand the sequels. For example: God of War 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resident Evil 5, Killzone 2, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, are all sequels. It'd be kind of hard to understand them if you haven't played the first ones (which are out on the PS2). There are even more games like that which I haven't mentioned.

If you want a good deal, go to Target.com or Walmart.com. They have awesome bundles.

Target has a "Greatest Hits Bundle" that comes with 2 free PS3 games, along with a 80GB PS3, and it costs exactly the same as a stand-alone PS3. It's available online only, though.

    Hope this helps!
