Is it safe to stand your ps3 vertically?

May be...
  • Ok so i was wondering, is it ok to stand the ps3 vertically? because ive had some mixed answers but i want to here some from experience.

So, is it ok to stand it vertically? will it fall over? does it damage the games?

    Thanks
  • "So, is it ok to stand it vertically?" Yes, either way is fine as the fans are internal

"will it fall over?" It is steady (despite the lack of a base) and there are no wired controllers, so... it will only fall over if you knock it over

"does it damage the games?" No, it is not a 360 (ho ho ho)

Personally, I like it when it's erect.

Vents exposed on the top + hot air rising = good.

Also, when it is upright, more surface area is exposed to allow quicker cooling, after you shut down.
  • Your good!!! It wont hurt any games or fall over. Well it wont fall over unless you knock it over yourself. Just be safe and dont put it on the ledge of something. Maybee stick it in between something so nothing can get at it. Just make sure it gets plenty of air circulation because they heat up pretty good and that could damage your ps3.
  • It is designed to work either way. If you stand it up there is a danger of someone knocking it over if they bump into it, but other than that there is no difference.
  • no it wont damage it but think about if you accidently hit it and it fell over. that could do some serious damage. if i was you i would put it flat so you wont knock it over or anything
  • It won;t fall over as long as you balance it properly... as with all consoles it's always better to run it horizontally, for heat sync reasons etc. but running it vertically won't cause any problems for concern.
  • yes you can stand it vertically it does not damage anything
  • It is, as long as it doesn't fall over. If it falls over then it will usually break.
  • yes its safe

it can fall over if you hit it hard enough

    it doesnt damage games
  • yeah it'll be fine to stand up vertically
