Question about Playstation Home?

May be...
  • I've been trying to figure out what makes this so attractive to people. Does it do something special that I don't know about? I refuse to pay a dollar for a fake couch to put in my fake apartment, or $.50 for a fake hat. Is it supposed to be like a virtual chat room to make xbox look bad? Because I don't need all that. Just give me a chat room. Please someone explain this to me. I'm looking for serious answers. I'd like to get some real honest answers as to why I should bother with Home.
  • It's a social network, basically, with avatars. I have not bought a single thing from Home, and never will, but it is fun to get all the free stuff, along with meeting with your friends just to chat.

Basically, you can get bored just chatting, so it is nice to do other stuff (all the different rooms) while you are chatting. I have friends that would rather chat with messages from the XMB, and now the new chat feature, but sometimes, it's nice to see something other than a text box.

Home isn't for everyone, so don't feel you have to be apart of Home. It has nothing to do with Xbox. More like Sony trying to lead the market in an untapped section, especially considering that people are spending money on fake furniture, clothes, etc., and will keep spending money as long as they feel it is cool.

I would actually expect game companies to start doing the same thing over time, just to get more money than just from games. For example, the Dallas Cowgirls do not just make money from game tickets, they also make money from any kind of sale with their logo on it. Sony (and possibly developers) will do anything they can to make money. I would not be surprised if Micro$oft does the same thing in the future.
  • Like what Adidas said, it's a social network. Think of it as a 3-D chatroom. And that's what it is too. Talk to friends and meet new people while playing games, watching new trailers, getting free stuff from the mall, etc.

And also just to let you know, Home made over $1,000,000 less than a month, so it's been really successful.

I buy stuff too if i can't afford anything in the PS Store.
  • People like that stuff. Making characters walking around and sometimes virtual rooms. I even like those games once in a while for some reason but I get bored fast.

haha beaker. reminds me of a muppet which isn't quite a mop and not quite a puppet.
  • Me too. I played it once and after 5 minutes of it I was already bored.
