Some Core i7 processors have a price tag greater than the PS3.. So obviously they are superior for normal tasking. But in terms of games, I don't think having a Core i7 processor will make any difference as no current game out in the market even says that it has to work on a Quad core... Forget the i7. Having a Core i7 and a Dual core will output similar performance as no one has made a game only for i7 processors.



It's impossible to compare them. One is optimized for gaming whereas other is optimized for computer OS multi-threaded tasks. The CPU cores in processors aid the GPU for gaming whereas Cell Processor can itself turn into a GPU if required.... But in normal comparison such as calculations per second and stuff, the i7 will show better results overall... mainly cause it uses 4 physical cores which are more powerful than the PS3 SPE's (7+1).



In terms of technology... Obviously Core i7 is superior.. But Cell was never meant to be used in PC's for an OS. It is optimized for gaming.



Core i7- Best for Heavy Pc users... Mainly for OS

Cell BBE: Best for gaming.
