Can you play ps2 games on ps3?

May be...
  • i have the new 80gb ps3 and i was wondering if i could play my old ps2 games on it.
  • why not stop being a lazy **** and try it out yourself...and by the way yes you can you can play PS2 games on the 20G 80 G and the new one thats like 100 somthing
  • Unfortunately, the 80GB version of the PS3 isn't fully backward compatible. It can play Blu-Ray discs and PS1 games only.

If you have purchased the 40 GB model, then you can play the PS2 games on it.
  • Yes of course you can. Although some of the graphics may be a a little messed up on some of them. I know that when I play Backyard Baseball for PS2 on my PS3 some of the graphics suck but it still works and functions the same.

    Hope this helps.
  • it depends on what Model of ps3 you get.

i dont know much about the models of Ps3's, but it will be worth searching

    "ps3 models" in google.

    good luck!

"edit" i do know that some earlier Ps3 models can run Ps2 games.
  • the new models cant play ps2 and ps1 games but the old 60 gig can but in ur case No, u cant play ps2 and ps1 on the 80 gig unless u got the old 80 gig that could play those games
  • No, your new 80 GB PS3 will not play your PS2 games.
