Does the PS3 ever break down?

May be...

i mean like is there a big chance of it breaking down like the xbox 360? anything close to the RROD?

No, make sure it doesn't overheat (put it in a place so that there is air around it at least 10cm) and you'll be fine. 1% of PS3s overheat, 33% of Xbox 360 consoles.



A lot of the comments say it breaks easily. But just make sure it won't overheat and you're fine. Lots of people have the red ring of death and it passed on the news, never saw a news about a ps3 overheating.



And a PS3 doesn't get very hot. And I droped it from 1 meter on the ceramic tiles and it works as well as new. Now I put it on the floor so that it doesn't fall ;-).

Also, Uncharted Drake's fortune, Bioshock and Far Cry 2 are the best titles I,ve had to date on the PS3. Metal Gear Solid too. I forgot to mention it.

Mine broke after 1 year of usage. You might want to get the extended warrenty. But its more durable than Xbox 360. You can drop it (off of the tv station), roll it around on the ground and it doesnt heat up as much as xbox. My ps3 survived a lot for 1 year. My friends xbox burned up in less than a month. You choose!

Of course it can break down; all hardware can fail at some point.



Maybe not as much as early 360s, but there are still certainly problems with the Blu-ray drive (usually, the blue laser fails so that it can't read PS3 games anymore), or the 'yellow light of death' failures.

Man Im glad I bought that stupid extra store warranty. With the PS2 I went through 5 total. 2 the first year. So this expensive piece of plastic I wasnt going to play, "well it seems you warranty has expired" bs with SONY. And boy, 2.5 years of owning a PS3, I am now on PS3# 3.

Call it bad luck.

But Im still on XBOX#1 and X360#1. WIth no problems

yes mine is broken right now,beacuse of the cheap blueray,after awhile if you play every day like me its just will stop reading disks nd you have to pay sony $150 and wait a month to fix it.

there is not a high risk of break down like with the 360 and the RROD

Not really, the only thing you gotta do is clean the ps3 every once and a while just to whipe the dust off.

Well, with the RRod there's about a 30% chance it will fail

With the ps3, it's a 2% chance.

yes anything could happen the hard drive could crash or soda might spill on it but if that happens you should be able to get a new one for free from sony..my friend did
