How If Its Real Does A Slim PS3 Cost Less To Produce Then The Fat?

May be...
  • i understand less material, but wouldnt it be harder to pack a blu-ray player and all that stuff in there? if not wouldnt it at least cost more to slim down the parts? or no?

    thanks.

also who sees overheating problems coming? hm?
  • The slim when it happens will have smaller chips, so it will require less heat sinks and fans. If they make it now the chip would be 45nm. The slim would cost retail, while they put the fat ones on sale, same thing they did with the PS2.
  • New tech is always coming along in the industry, as soon as anything is designed and made, they automatically start working on making it smaller, and cheaper to produce.

The same will be true of the parts in the PS3. When the slim PS3 comes along, I hope I will be able to buy a spare fat one before they stop selling them, because the slim is not going to be as well made and reliable as the fat one, and it will def have overheating problems.

The slim version of consoles is just a gimmick, it's a cheaper, more poorly made product, wrapped up in a pretty package.*
  • I saw someone write an answer here that was pretty convincing, sony is doing not as good as they hope they are right now, they are trying to make the slim as cheap as humanly possible. Remember how much the slim ps2 failed beyond belief, lets get ready for it again.
  • i think the prices would be competeing against the wii 250 dollars then nintendo will lower the price about 30 dollars
  • How did PS2 Slim fail? It basically outsold 360 in April of this year.
