That's if you have DVI in on your monitor. If you do, you'll see a white long plug, with about 30 or so pin holes and one long pin on the side.
If you don't see that, you might instead see a blue trapezoidal plug with about 24 pin holes. That's VGA in, and PS3 doesn't support VGA out natively, but I did find a guide online for how to do it, listed below.
But keep in mind, for both options, you'll need to do something about the audio, since neither DVI nor VGA offers audio support. The optical out is a good idea, if you have a sound system that supports optical in.

You won't have sound though, so you'll have to find some other method to rig up sound. I have the 2 red/white cables in a converter that changes it to a 3.5mm plug, and have that plug into my computer stereo.
