Ps3 heat problem?

May be...
  • when i play my ps3 for long periods at a time (meaning a couple hours not all day) it shuts off. has anyone else had this problem? and should i let it cool for a minute or just turn it back on and play right away?
  • The manual has some recommended operating parameters, such as 4" of space on the sides, some humidity range, and some ambient temperature range. Make sure you have all of that. Also check sources of radial heat, such as central heating (could be blowing on the system), or space heaters.

Also make sure that your PS3 is not running in an enclosed cabinet where there is no airflow, even though there's space on the sides.

Consider environmental factors such as buildup on the system from dust, dirt, pet hair, cigarette smoke, etc. This can get in the system and cause it to overheat faster. The manual recommends a low suction vacuum, though a lot of users also just try compressed air blown parallel to the sides of the PS3.
  • make sure that the place where you have it placed is wide and do not cover the console with anything......remember it needs space to let some of that hot air out.....

i will also recommend to contact SONY....

you should probably let it cool off for a sec.....maybe is doing that to prevent burn it self....so just let it cool off...

    good luck!!!!
  • no problem with mine i don't think its a heat prob it also could be a power problem
  • It shouldnt just turn off like that, leave it for a few hours and see what happens otherwise contact Sony and they should sought something out.
