Ps3 worked fine on tv then stopped, tried every thing please help?

May be...
  • I brought my ps3 a few months ago, and hooked it up to my t.v. (a samsung le32r74bd which is about three years old) and after ten minutes of fiddling about got the hdmi working, a few nights ago whilst play gta4 the screen went blank and the sound also went. i swithed the ps off and turned it back on nothing happened, i then reset the ps3 by holding the power button for 5 sec's the screen then came back on but only on the component cable not he hdmi, i tried to reset the display settings but when i try to put in onto hdmi it goes to change settings screen goes blank for 30secs then goes back to previous page.

i spoke to a college who told me i may have a fault with my hdmi cable so i went and purchased a new one still no change, after pulling my hair out for a futher few hours i gave up. the next morning in took the console back to where i brought it explanined the fault, they sent me away with a brand new consol. plugged it in and nothing it's still the same. please help.....
  • Use the red white and yellow av cables then do the hold to power on. Holding it to power it on resets it back to regular AV.

Make sure your tv is on the av station. On hd tvs in the TV menu there is a different channel for av, hdmi, componant, dvi etc...

When switching back to hdmi hook the hdmi cables up at the same time the av cables are hooked up. THen goto the ps3 menu and select hdmi for video and audio out, THen on your TV select the HDMI channel and you should have your screen.

GTA4 issues are solved when you disable the infromation board and disconnect from the psn network. After you are in the gTA4 menu then select online and connect to psn from in game (GTA4)
  • You need a way to figure out if it's your TV's HDMI port, if it's your TV, or if it's the PS3.

The best way is to try using the PS3's HDMI connection on a different TV (either one of yours or a friend's TV). If it work on the other TV, then your Samsung has a problem. If it doesn't work on the other TV, then the problem is either the unit or the cable.

    Good Luck.
  • its not your console,tv or cables. its gta iv. im in exactly the same boat as you. whilst some people are only having minor problems with the game (in game freezes ect.) a growing number are having way more serious problems like us. after much disappointment and hairpulling i think im just gana leave my gta iv alone untill i can get a patch and repair it. for now i can only wait...since no games work ever since i bought gta iv!!!

you may want to try it on another tv though, slight chance it could be that.
