yes both normal dvds and blu-ray! the only thing differnt from the 60g is that the40g has only 2 usb ports and the 60g has 4, the 60g console also has a lift up pannel for memory stick or scandisk cards!

yes plays dvds... also my cuzin has the 40gb nd it pllays a lot of my ps2 games.. it is somewhat backwards compatible..
