What ethernet cable for PS3?

May be...
  • Should I get CAT 5e or CAT 6. Is there a specific brand that is best for the PS3 or will any of them work, cause I was looking to get it from www.monoprice.com cause they are cheap.
  • Use the Cat5 or Cat5e. Cat5 will be the cheapest as far as cost is concerned and will deliver up to 100 mega bits per second that you need for the price you want to pay.

Cat 5e and Cat 6 are both capable of delivering Gigabit ethernet which is defeated unless you have a router/switch/hub capable of delivering 1000 mbps and a broadband connection to take advantage of that full speed.
  • Austin C is wrong. 40gb ps3 does not come with a ethernet cable.

All ethernet cables work fairly the same. It depends on your modem. I found an old ethernet cable that belonged to the previous owner and it works fine.
  • Category 5 or CAT 5 is the compatable one.
  • i would imagine that ethernet cables are fairly universal.
  • they all work, but the ps3 comes with an ethernet cable that works best
