Slim Silver PS2 help!?

i need help, i just bought a silver slim PS2 offline from Dell.com and when i got it today it wouldnt play games and it kept saying "the disk cannot be read" anyone had this same problem? what to do?

i had a black slim and about three years it did that and just threw it and got a silver ps2 slim.contact sony
