How do you get a Ps3 to work on a normal tv??

May be...
  • I bought a ps3 at the start and when i bought it i was living with mum and dad and they had a lcd which i ran the ps3 on a hdmi cable and it was all sweet but then when i moved out to go to uni i had to play it on my crapy old tv which was in my room it has the standard red white yellow imputs and the ps3 has the cables but when i turn it on it wont come up on the screen so i thought that the hardware was broken in the move so i took it to my mates place and used the hdmi again and it worked so i tried the standared cordes and it didnt show up

    Whats going on

    What can i go?

    Thanks
  • Your PS3 is configured for HDMI output, so when you connect it normally for standard definition, it won't work because the output is still going through HDMI.

What you need to do is reset the video settings. With your PS3 on standby (red light on front), hold down the power button to turn it on, but keep holding it until you see the picture. The video settings will have been reset.
  • Should work. Might be the TV...the A/V inputs might not be working right. Are you sure you switched the input from the TV off of the tuner and to the A/V inputs?

Another possibility is that you need to switch the video settings in the PS3 control panel. It should be detecting things automatically and somehow you'd have to be able to see the output to make the change. I don't think this is the likely cause.

If HDMI output is working, standard A/V should be too. I suspect the problem is the TV.
  • I`m pretty sure this is the reason.... your ps3 is still set to hd as in 720p or 1080p..so when you plug it in it cant recognize it... you gotta go hook it up to an lcd with and hdmi then switch the settings to 480p so that it plays on your crap tv
  • you cant you have to have an lcd tv
