I'm thinking of buying a Playstation 3....?

May be...
  • Which is better to buy, the 40gb, the 60gb, or the 80gb?
  • Ok here is a list of differences:

    40GB Playstation 3:

-- It CANNOT play PS2 and PS1 games

    -- Have built in Wi-Fi

-- Cannot use memory cards from digital cameras

    -- Has 2 USB ports

60GB Playstation 3: (Is not being sold in stores because Sony took them off the shelves and replaced it with the 40GB version and 80GB, but you may find it online. I will still tell you everything about the 60GB version)

-- Can play ALL PS2 and PS1 games

    -- Built in Wi-Fi

-- It CAN use memory cards from digital cameras

    -- 4 USB ports

    80GB Playstation 3:

-- It CAN play most PS2 and PS1 games

    -- Have built in Wi-Fi

-- Can use memory cards from digital cameras

    -- Has 4 USB ports

If I were in your shoes, I would choose the 80GB version. But if you are willing to go buy the PS3 online, DEFINITELY get the 60GB version.

Wikipedia has a chart that I used for this information.

    I am a proud 40gb owner!!
  • it depends really if you want to play PS2 and PS1 games go for the 60gb, it has backward compatability which means you can play PS1 and PS2 games but this means it is more expensive . The 40gb can play PS1 but cant play PS2 games. The 80gb can only play PS3 games but is fairly cheap. If your looking to play PS2 and PS1 games id go with the 60gb for obvious reasons, if not I'd go with the 80gb if your willing to pay a little more, but remember you can always upgrade your hardrive fairly easily no matter which version you get.
  • It really depends on what you need. If it's BC, then the 60GB or 80 with BC. If you don't care about BC, then go with the 80 without BC for $399.
  • The 60gb would be the best, or if you can find the old 80gb.
