On a PS3, what's better, 40GB or 80GB?

May be...
  • What is it for?

I need a blu-ray player and I might play a few games, but not online. Do I need a big hard drive?
  • well if your talking about blue ray then it doesn't really matter but the hd is just to store save data, music, photos, and videos
  • The 40GB is discontinued, so there's no point in getting it.

Just get an 80GB. It's a 40GB, but with twice the hard drive space. They are both the same price. Plus, it's bundled with a DualShock 3 controller instead of original SIXAXIS. The DS3 has rumble, but the original SIXAXIS doesn't.

Some games require large install files (example: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which can take about 5GB). Also, you also can use up that space for your media (like music, pictures, and videos).
  • well the new 80 gig, is the same as the 40 gig, but it has more storage space. the older 80gig has backwards compatibility.

the new 80gig is the same price as the 40gig was
  • i would get the 80 GB because Sony dropped the price for the 80 GB version and it costs the same as a 40, so go with 80
  • 80gb more memorry and it can play ps2 and ps1
