Can You Charge A PS3 Controller Through A USB Cord From A Computer....?

May be...
  • I want to charge my PS3 controllers, but my PS3 isn't on regularily to give it a full charge, whereas my computer is, can I charge the controller through my computer's USB ports?
  • Yes. You can charge the PS3 controller using your computer. Anything that has a USB port will charge.
  • yes you can. but if i was you, i would only charge it when the battery is all the way drained.

after you're done playing, and you see its one bar drained, don't plug it in your computer and charge after use. just for it to be ready for the next time you play. only do it when it is fully drained.

they are built to last on number of overall charges, for example the controller lasts for 400 charges (not real number, just guess)

and even if you leave it on for 10 minutes,, then that counts as 1 charge. after a lot of charges, you will notice that the battery drains quicker. just a sign that your controller is having a mid life crisis :)

it will die fully if you charge it too many times.
  • Yes. Basically anything that supplies power with a usb port (Wii, computer, etc)
  • Yeah, you can even plug it into your cable box.
  • hmm...after I read this question, I connected my sixaxis via the usb lead to my laptop's usb port and it seems to charge! nice idea...comes up as human interface device tho.
