Is it worth it to go for the extra memory on PS3?

May be...
  • I'm getting my husband a PS3 for Christmas and had a question. I've noticed that currently most stores have the 80gb version for around $399. There's evidently a version that has like 160gb for a bit more money. Neither of us are HUGE gamers. We both just love Rock Band and stuff like that. He's not the type of gamer who will spend 4 hours doing it or anything. So, my question is: is it worth it to spend the extra money for the increased memory on the PS3? Which version is better?
  • 80 GB is more than enough if you're just gonna have a few games, you can also store music, videos, and pictures on your PS3, though I'm assuming that you're not going to.

Just FYI, most PS3 games require about 3-5 GB of free hard drive space to install on to, though it's no more than 5.
  • the extra memory is really not worth it. if you ever need some extra for videos and such you can just get an external drive. the 80gb version is better if you can get the older one with 4 usb ports and ps2 backwards capability. you probably wont be able to find one though. try looking for the metal gear solid 4 bundle as thats the last release featuring that model.
  • Nope.. the 80GB is more than enough. You don't need 80GB. After all, you can always connect any USB harddrive later on if you need them for photos, music or videos.

    Lucky Man!
