Gears of war 2 ranking system ?

i bought gears of war the day of release i played over 40 matches and my rank does not go up i won 34 out of 40 then i saw a guy who had 3 matches and he was 3 ranks above me can anyone help ???

i think it goes by consecutive wins. I've only played 5 matches online. and ive won all five, so therefore Two of those V Things.

Just keep playing and your eventually level up.
