Playstation 3 - price drop?? and do you need an HD TV?

I'm thinking of getting a PS3 soon, but the price has been stuck at around £300 for absolutely ages now and the 360 shot down in price recently - so you think there's any chance of a price-cut after Christmas?



Also, do you need an HD TV to play PS3 games on? Or will a normal old-skool TV do?

The XBOX 360 is dropping in price, as PS3 sales are going up.However, with the economy of late, there will most likely be good deals on it, if not a reduced SRP.



You do NOT need an HDTV - you get the regular yellow, red and white cables to plug into your SD tv, and blu-rays & all games will work just fine. HD is an option.

i think so far the price has dropped from $600 to $399, probably because they recently took out the backwards compatability. and no, you dont need an HD-TV, but an HD would make the picture much better, as that is one of the improvements they made from ps2 to ps3. but i would also reccomend using an old school T.V., as you would need the 2 or 3 plug holes--for the left audio, right audio, and picture. if your T.V. doesn't have those three plugs, then you could probably get an adapter that you hook up to your cable wire. my mother told me about that adapter, i'm not sure if she was being legit.

I believe there will be a price drop soon on the PS3 i just don't know if it will be after this christmas. This is because the PS3 hasn't been out for as long as the 360. You don't need an HDTV to play the PS3 games on however, it will look nicer and crystal clear if you play them on an LCD TV.

Reg TV is fine. i heard that the PS3 wont dip until 2009, but retailers are desperate at the mo so u may pick up a deal, go to a specialist game retailer about and hour before they close on a weekday and haggle the manager will drop the price if they have had a slow day!

i saw one for only $150..

but yes prices will drop the day after Christmas and it might be that cheap..

you don't need a plasma tv .. but it would be better..

and no it wont be old-school.. it still will look good..

I'm not sure, maybe in a few months the price will drop. My mom bought a new Sony 32" Bravia TV and we got a free PS3 with it.. (not sure of the measurement) so im not sure if you need a HD tv.

i bought a ps3 four days ago, while testing it on shop's 'normal old-skool TV ' , gta 4 couldn't run on it and needed hd tv to run

i think some high quality games dont run on 'normal old-skool TV'

I would wait for the PS4 since it is coming soon

the ps3 will not drop for a while and ya any tv will work for the ps3 and you dont need to get a new one.

no price cut.

and no need for an hdtv. but it's recommended get an hdtv to benefit from the next gen technology.
