Resistance 2 competitive online question?

May be...

There is a trophy you can get when you earn a million XP points on competitive. How do you get XP in competitive mode? Whether I'm first or last place, win or lose, at the end of each round it says I earned no XP, and I'm still stuck on lvl 1.
