I wouldn't touch a used one with a 10 foot pole either way. I buy used DVD's and used games, but buying an intricate piece of gaming hardware like the PS3 used...well that's just too risky for me.

Would it matter if I buy a used PS3 or a new PS3?
May be...
Would it really physically matter? Or just emotionally? LOL. Don't ever play with my emotions. If the used one is still under warranty, you should factor that in to the amount that you pay for it. If the warranty is expired....don't touch it.
