When i get my PS3 for xmas (its a new 80gb 1) how many gb or mb of updates will i need to get?

Yes it will be built in. However, upon connecting to the internet, you will be asked to update your version. This will take up a little bit of space, FOR THE FIRST ONE ONLY. All following updates will delete the old one and install the new one.

How do you know you're getting a PS3 for x-mas?? You seem pretty sure about that.
