Weird PS2 Disc Read Errors?

I was using the swap trick (with a credit card) and it got stuck. I opened up my PS2 (warranty had already expired) and moved it, closed it, and plugged it in. Now it reads for a long time and gives me DRE's. I don't know how to fix this. It's a old PS2. Like one of the bulky ones.

I love the big ps2s but unfortunately you're laser more than likely just went out they only last about 3-5 years. Although i have heard of some that lasted longer. I have two busted ones right now. But you might be able to get a little more life out of it or maybe even fix it. Just take it apart and get a cue tip and some alcohol and clean the hell out of it every nook and cranny and clean the laser as well either with a disc cleaner or manually. I have worked on alot of them and its kind of hit or miss. I have fixed some that only worked for about an extra week or so which is typical but I have fixed 2 that worked for months after the cleaning. Hint: Its always good to clean them.

did you take it apart? because if you did, you killed your ps2. I had a bulky ps2 but I traded it in for a 60GB ps3. you caused to malfuction. the wires must have been worn out of the game disk doesn't support ps2.
