PlayStation®Home - Why does it cost so much?

May be...
  • I think it is a good chat room but when i went in the shopping centre - £1.39 for a t-shirt :O why??

Im not planning on buying anything but out of curiosity... How do you pay :S (Credit card or what)

    10 POINTS Thanks =]
  • You pay with a credit card. Yes.

The articles are so expensive, because Sony currently has huge losses due to the PS3 costing so much in production and they sell it cheaper than it cost them to produce.

They hope to make money by selling games and the licenses to the games.

However, since the PS3 sells so poorly and mos people use it to watch BluRay movies instead of games, Sony tries to generate money in another way.

And some poor sucker will buy a digital t-shirt. It works the same way in Second Life or other Online games with Micro Payment.
  • It isn't just Sony getting money for this. There are people that MADE those shirts, and they get part of the money(or Sony gave the store X amount for the stuff outright either way they are getting paid.) I know in the U.S. the one is a real life store as well, so likely they are working with Sony so they can make some extra money as well. Anyway you put money on your Playstation Wallet. You can do that with Credit Card/Debit Card/Card you buy in the store(if they sell them there).
  • They only give you some clothes free so they charge lots of money because they know that people will want different stuff, the stuff you get to start with is a bit boring eventually. If you do wan't to buy anything whether it is clothes or the other apartment thing then you have to add the item to your cart and it will ask for billing information, where you need to enter card details and name and adress etc.
  • You pay by adding money onto your Wallet on Playstation Network.

Home is pretty much a rip-off - Sony charge you so much so they can use Home as another way of making the losses of the PS3.

I deleted it, it took up a 3GB of space which can be used for important things.
  • you pay by debit or credit card I presume you are talking about the menu on playstation3? If so then yes you pay by these means. I play online so anything that I buy on the PS3 is charged on your phone bill next month. I hope I've earned my 10 points!
  • You use your ps wallet.... you just add funds to you account.. then you go to the mall on HOME and pick out what you like....

The reason it cost money... cause it helps improve home... plus nothing is free
  • You have to add funds to your wallet via your credit cards. I do agree that it is a rip off though.
  • £1.39 for a shirt?!
  • Because Sony needs money.
