Im a casual-ish gamer, I would prefer to be able to play all of my old PS2 games. What are the differences between the consoles (other than the memory space..unless thats the only difference?)
Thanks in advance :)
The 60 GB's almost fully backward compatible with all PlayStation 2 games. The old 80 GB was backwards compatible but due to the exclusion of the "Emotion Engine" CPU, the level of compatibility was reduced. The 80 GB and 160 GB in stores now aren't backwards compatible with PS2 games.
Let's face it thou, the old PS2-compatible models are hard to come by. They are rare, and sell for a LOT more, usually over $100 more than the standard current models. If you have your PS2 still, most def just grab the current PS3 model. You said you are a casual gamers, and in my opinion, it is better to get a current model and there are more than enough PS3 games to keep a casual gamer happy, so why would you NEED to play PS2 games anymore? And if you do decide you really miss the PS2 games, you can use the $100 you saved on the PS3 to buy a PS2. The only valid reason to get a PS2-compatible model is to have one console sitting on your shelf (space), but is the time it will take to find it, the additional $$ up front, etc worth it?
can play some old PS2 game
Most other PS3 consoles don't have the old backwards combality but some do. You should ask before you buy it depends where you buy it from.
ITs the best one they ever made
