If i were to buy a PS3 would it come with HD cables or just standard?

May be...
  • Im just curious if i were to buy a PS3 what type of AV cables would it come with. Im taking about the 80 GB console. Also how good will it look? I heard of HDMI cables. How much are those and are they worth the money?
  • All the other answers are right -- the PS3 only comes with standard definition cables, and getting and HDMI cable will give you a much, much better picture.

The only thing I wanted to add is if you happen to have an older HDTV that doesn't have HDMI, you can also pick up a Component (Red/Green/Blue) cable that will give you 720p or 1080i. It's the same HD cable that you could get for the PS2 as well, so you can usually find it cheap. If you've got the choice, go HDMI though -- it is better.
  • All PS3 systems are sold with the AV cables (white, yellow, red). The HDMI cables are quite cheap and they do alot graphics wise as they can send 1080p signal. Make sure though you dont get ripped off by paying something like £20 for one. I bought bought my Belkin One from Play.com for £5

I do reccomend you get a HDMI lead.
  • Not everybody owns an HDTV so, the PS3 comes only with a regular AV cables. Yeah, HDMI is a must. The price ranges from $10 to $100. I would say get the cheapest HDMI that you can find. There is no difference at all in terms of video output quality.
  • Every single PS3 is sold with only the regular cables unless:

    1) It is used and the seller is including the HDMI cable

    2) A store has a special offer that includes the HDMI cable.
  • sorry you have to buy a seperate HDMI cord the ps3 only comes with 1 controller and the consoll the the leads
  • PS3 only comes with Composite cables( yellow, white, red) which are standard 480i
  • It comes with standard cables, HDMI cables are sold seperately
