When i hook up my hdmi cable to the ps3 the screen is black?

May be...

no sound nothing. maybe the screen was blue i dont remember. i bought it about 4 months ago tried it a few times and gave up. thought someone out there might have had the same prob.

Turn your ps3 completely off, leave your TV on set to the HDMI input, turn your ps3 on by holding down the power button until you hear two beeps then let go, the option should come up after that to use the HDMI and automatically set it to the best resolution..if that doesn't work try an alternative cable if that works your ps3 HDMI input may be loose, at that point call Sony
