Every time I turn on my Playstation3 it resets my router?

May be...
  • Why?

I turn on my PS3, my router turns off for about 10 seconds, then turns back on. It kicks everything off the connection (Brothers Xbox360 and my computer).

I entered a manual IP address, so that isn't the problem
  • If you are using a router and all, you have to go into your network settings and turn off your Media connection. If that is on, anytime you turn on your ps3, it'll kick everything connected to the router off for a couple of seconds.

  • The router sends the internet to your PS3, not the other way around. It is a one-way signal.

With that being said, are you on the same power outlet? You could be overloading the circuit, which would cause the router to shut down. If you are wired, you may have a faulty connection that is causing a power surge back to the router.

It is a power problem, not an internet problem. If you are on the same outlet or power strip, move the PS3 to another outlet, or upgrade your power strip. Double check your wires and make sure they are not frayed or damaged. Also, make sure all your plugs are plugged in correctly and that you don't have a bad outlet.
  • If its wired then it sounds like a power issue..

Try a different ethernet cable, you could be shorting your router.
  • call sony up to figure out what the problem is
