How can I make the Wi-Fi internet connection better on my PlayStation 3?

May be...
  • My modem is connected to my computer, and my computer is about twenty feet away from my PlayStation 3. There's two corners the Wi-Fi has to turn to get to my PlayStation 3.

Is there anyway I can enhance my online experience via PlayStation 3?
  • Wifi travels trough walls, it does not have to travel around corners. If you want to enhance your wireless experience, mount the router as high up in your house as you can even if it is in the attic. Reason being that Wifi signals travel downward and the router will blanket more of your house.

If your router does not have very good range upgrade to a wireless N router. Wireless N routers have significantly increased range compared to wireless G, you can connect to an N router using G and your range will be significantly increased.
  • I'm not sure exactly what problem you're experiencing. Is the internet connection on your PS3 running more slowly than you'd like? It seems that your PS3 is in a pretty ideal position for picking up the signal from your router. If speed is your issue, the only suggestion I could really offer would be to buy an ethernet cable and run a wired connection to your PS3.

Of course, running a wired connection would mean that your PS3 is receiving maximum signal strength from your router. While wireless network technology has come a long way, a wired connection is still the optimal connection method if you want your system to be receiving the fastest signal possible at all times.

The only other thing I could suggest is this - do you have a password set up for your wireless network? If you don't have password protection for your network, it is possible that neighbors may be using your internet connection and siphoning off your bandwidth, causing things to run more slowly. Just a thought.

    Hope this helps!
  • To get Wi-Fi from your PS3 , all you have to do is follow the manual directions, go to Network Settings, > then go Internet connection settings> pick Easy> Wireless. then select scan, from there your PS3 will pick up signal from your internet router. before you are done they will ask you for the password to your internet

Your PS3 internet connection settings, will then be change to Wireless.. which means you are online with PS3. so you will access to everything from Home- to PS Store. to your video games online you will be connected. just follow the directions to your manual, make sure your internet provider gave your wireless access
  • Awesome pic almost as awesome as mine!
  • Draw more bars for the internet to work better.
