My PS3 skips a step for a wireless connection?

May be...
  • I can't get my PS3 to switch to wireless connection. i have a PS3 that should have WIFI. It just won't let me go to wireless connection instead of wired. I go to internet connection settings like everyone says but when i set it up it doesn't give me the option of wired or wireless, it skips me right to 'Easy' or 'Custom'. When i choose easy it just tells me an ethernet cable is unplugged. When i choose custom i set everything up and at the end it just says "Connect an ethernet cable". I am really frustrated and really want to get online. Please tell me how to get it there and i have already tried removing the discs

I have searched everywhere there are no answers to this problem. I AM GOING INSANE!!

PS: i have tried to plug in the ethernet cable but they don't make 500 foot ethernet cables that go thru walls so that is out of the question.
  • Check what model you have, if you have a 20 gig model, then you can't do it. That model is the only one that doesn't have wi-fi.
  • dude, if your wireless router is 500 ft away.. you won't get any signal. it should be at the most 5 meters away. that's why you can't get the wireless option because your PS3 cannot detect the wireless signal at all. It's too far away.
  • Do you realize how far 500 feet is?
