oblivion
oblivion game of the year
or platinum edition
what are the differences and which one should i get?
But, if you want to fully appreciate it:
Oblivion is a actually better to get on the PC than PS3 or XBOX because on PC you have access to mods and things that other people have made such as new spells, weapons, armour and quests - it makes the game much much better.
Your ps3 character will never have armour, skin colour or weapons as cool as my PC character: http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/5912/...
Also, Oblivion on PS3 doesn't even have the official downloadable content like Vile Lair, Mehrunes Razor and others (see here: http://obliviondownloads.com/StoreCatalo... ) that you get on PC and even xbox.
So yes, Oblivion is a good game, but it's even better on PC, so I'd say get it on PC instead (game of the year edition).
If you're not interested in PC games, just get it on PS3 though, you'll probably get better graphics out of it that way unless you have damn good pc.
Platinum edition in any ps3 game is just the same as the normal game. Once a game has sold a certain amount of copies in a certain number of places, they stop producing it with the cover it has and start producing it with a "platinum" cover and drop the price quite a bit. This has been the case with playstation and ps2 as well.
I'm pretty sure that only the GOTY oblivion went platinum, so any platinum you see will be the same as the GOTY edition, but it will say "platinum" on it.
GOTY is easily best to go for, because it has quite a bit extra (shivering isles is a lot of fun) and with it being platinum, won't cost you any more (probably actually cheaper) than the non-GOTY edition.
